Growing on north slope of ridge above (north) of Strawberry Creek. Associated plants include: Pinus ponderosa, Calocedrus decurrens, Quercus kelloggii, Q. chrysolepis, Pteridium aquilinum pubescens, Rhamnus californica, Arctostaphylos pringlei drupacea, Solidago californica, Angelica tomentosa, Ribes malvaceum viridifolium, Poa secunda, and Carex multicaulis.
