Upper Sonoran - Quercus douglasii and P. sabiniana.
Sun, red clay, dry open forest (burned), semishade. Bulbous, 3-4 ft tall. Abundant. Prop NO 2846 (seed). Supplementary collections for herbarium No 8778 are seed. The long trailing stems of this species seem to dry up at ground surface and the flowering heads mature their seeds on these disconnected pieces.
