Rocky, somewhat stable scree on steep hillside with relatively open canopy. In rocks beneath ppines growing in cracks of boulders where pine duff accumulates.
Common. Flower petals purple distally with white bases, calyx somewhat brownish. Immature fruits appear to be spreading to ascending. Proximal and distal stems hairy, pedicels also hairy. Cauline leaves auriculate, basal leaves oblanceolate. Microsatellite confirmed apomictic hybrid: B. lemmonii (S. Watson) W. A. Weber X B. fernaldiana (Rollins) W. A. Weber
