Oak forest with Quercus agrifolia dominant, in canyon and chapparal on exposed slopes.
Uncommon shrubs to 2m high, ca. plants 20 seen, in deep shade of oaks on dry slopes both above and below the road crossing; fls. deep pink. Long weak stems.
