Chaparral / Oak woodland interface with Gutierrezia californica, Cordylanthus rigidus, Adenostoma fasciculatum, Garrya veatchii, Quercus berberidifolia, etc. Granitic substrate with a humus rich,sandy soil; aspect SSW; slope 40%.
Annual, 3-4' tall. One plant was 3' tall, while another was 4' tall. Collected to show variation in height from the type description.
