Area of extensive outcrops of rounded granitic boulders weathering to coarse decomposed granite soil. Vegetation a mosaic of dense chaparral of Quercus wislizeni, Quercus chrysolepis, Ceanothus leucodermis, Adenostoma fasciculatum, and Arctostaphylos glandulosa, with more open areas of low scrub of Eriogonum fasciculatum, Eriastrum densifolium, Poa secunda, and Eriophyllum confertiflorum.
Coarse perennial herb, petals cream with dark wine-red tips. Locally common on decomposed granite.
