By path about 10 ft. upslope from a marshy lagoon border; Baccharis pilularis, Achillea borealis, Brassica geniculata, and Castilleja Wightii.
Multistemmed perennial, Corolla white, tinged with yellow-green, fading tannish; filaments white, anthers orange. Lfts. gray with a blue-green cast; rachis of similar color above but pale green beneath. Stems stoutish, mostly strict, ascending to erect;they were a dull darkish purple, shading to pale grayish green near the inflorescences. With long, thick taproots, some of which had one, two, or a few more or less horizontal branches. At coll. site, max. hft. was about 3 ft., but elsewhere, on a dike near the creek, we noted some individuals that were 4 to 5 ft. tall (the tallest plants of this genus seen by the collector).
