Fairly common locally on wet, southwest-facing bank by trail. Imm. flowers mostly pale yellow-green. Anthers tannish white, pollen pale yellow. Filament, pistils, perianth, pedicels, and panicle branches white. Main axis of inflorescence also white, shading to pale green below. Stems simple, light green above, becoming reddish purple below. Rootstock stout, fleshy, elongate. With Baccharis pilularis ssp. consanguinea, Eriophyllum staechadifolium, Rubus ursinus, and Scrophularia californica.
