Locally common and gregarious; Tufted perennial; Pale Green of inflorescence tinged with purple. Spikelets shining. Herbage a light, dull green. Below, blades and sheaths withered, streamineous. Associates: predominantly other grasses, notably Avena barbata, Stipa pulchra, Bromus carinatus, and Briza maxima, along with some herbs, as Plantago lanceolata, Raninculus californicus, Sidalcea malvaefloa, and Achillea borealis.
