Silty, sandy flat; Quercus, Pinus woodland with Ribes, and Toxicodendron diversilobum.
Remnants
Glandular shrub 2.5 m tall and 3 m wide, in partail shade; burl not observed (assumed absent); bark red, peeling, orange underneath; leaves isofacial, glaucous; pedicels glandular; bracts scale-like; fruit ± spheric, viscid and with separable nutlets (precise coordinates: 37.38474, -119.60906).
