Moist, somewhat alkaline meadow forming headwaters of Dexter Creek. In meadow and low hills nearby, surrounded by Pinus jeffryi and P. contorta forest upslope.
Soft deep pumice soil
Meadow vegetation dominated by Carex subnigricans, C. utriculata, and Artemisia cana, with Aster occidentalis, Mimulus prinuloides, Achillea millefolium.
