flowering
Wild Lily of the Valley; 5 to 10 inches; [Blooms in] June; Unlike most lilies, all parts of this plant are grouped in twos or its multiple, two leaves, four parted perianth, four stamens, and a two-lobed stigma. The red berries that follow are two-celled and each cell is two seeded. These berries are edible and were used as food by the Indians from Vancouver to Alaska, though not always plentiful enough to be of importance in their diet.
