Mature southern mixed chaparral with occasional coast live oak. Dominant species include Ceanothus spp., Cercocarpus, Quercus, Arctostaphylos rainbowensis. At collection point, large mixed stand of A. rainbowensis and A. glandulosa ssp. glandulosa, some individuals bearing traits of both species.
