Montane Meadow with open habitat. Slope to ca. 10 degrees; soils clay-loam; south orientation, in full sun. Associated plants: Bromus tectorum, Epilobium brachycarpum, and Polygonum sp.
Perennial herb to 25 cm tall, from rhizome. Leaves and stems gray to green with white trichomes. Ray flowers purple. Disk flowers yellow.
