Riparian forest with dense habitat. Slope to 15 percent; soil clay loam; south to south-west orientation, in part shade. Associated plants: Alnus rhombifolia, Cornus sericea, Mimulus cardinalis.
Perennial to 45 cm tall, from rhizome. Corolla and anthers yellow.
