30-50 degree slopes facing SW, S, SE. Soils sandy or gravelly . Open exposure, full sun. Open chapparal, with scattered shrubs: Malosma, Artemesia and some Ceanothus.
Annual herb. To 30 in. tall or much shorter. Central stem with lesser side branches from common base. Leaves medium green. Flowers true purple to orchid purple, bi-tone.
