Upper portion of east-facing slope. Red sandstone substrate. Mixed maritime succulent coastal sage scrub. closed canopy. Associated species: Artemisia californica, Cneoridium dumosum, Eriophyllum confertiflorum var. confertiflorum, Salvia mellifera.
Densely branched succulent shrub with slivery bark, approximately 1 m tall. Bracts creamy yellow, glands dark red. Odor sweet and pungent.
