reddish green larvae of Tegeticula maculata. Larvae were ca. 10-15 mm long. Locally common on S-facing slope in inland sage scrub with Salvia apiana and Eriogonum fasciculatum. Voucher for seed collection. Note: Leaves on friting plants were dead. This leaf from nearby, non-flowering individual.
Monocarpic perennial with crowded reosette of linear-lanceolate, green to slightly glaucous leaves with needle-like apical point. Inflorescence a stout panicle to 3 m tall. ca. 25-50mm in diam at base. Fruit a somewhat woody, septicicdal capsule. Seeds thinm, balck.
