Habitat:
Rocky canyon in hills; volcanic rocks forming orange cliffs, old alluvium forming grayish evenly eroding slopes; desert scrub with Larrea, Encelia farinosa, Krameria bicolor, K. erecta, Hyptis emoryi, Sphaeralcea ambigua, Simmondsia, Hilaria rigida, Tetracoccus hallii, Senegalia, Porophyllum gracile, Adenophyllum porophylloides, Bahiopsis parishii, Fagonia laevis, F. pachyacantha, Trixis, Cylindropuntia munzii, C. bigelovii, Fouquieria, Ambrosia dumosa, Lycium andersonii, Eriogonum inflatum, Acamptopappus sphaerocephalus, Echinocereus engelmannii, Olneya, Galium stellatum, Pleurocoronis pluriseta, Salazaria mexicana, Ephedra californica, Senna armata, Yucca schidigera, Ditaxis lanceolata, etc.

Notes:
Scarce perennial under shrub on canyon bottom beside wash; fls. closed. Foliage glandular-sticky. Open white fls. seen at dusk on another plant.
