Canyon slopes and bottoms with oak forest over much of area, but also with remnants of landscaping from abandoned houses, chaparral and patches of coastal sage scrub.
Fruiting
Uncommon perennial with succulent leaves. Persisting 8 years from cultivation in old gardens and expanding slowly into oak woods by vegetative spread. Plants healthy and producing fruit; appear to be thrivng without care.
