Sandy, braided river bottom to detritus apron at base of steep slopes and draws of dark gray, rugged Cambrian Marine limestone. Sparse vegetation within desert habitat. Growing on rocky slopes, with Ambrosia dumosa, Atriplex spinifera, A. hymenelytra, Amphipappus fremontii, Achnatherum speciosum, Peucephyllum schottii, Pleurocoronis pluriseta, Salvia funerea, Encelia farinosa, and Lepidium fremontii. Plus many annuals.
