Growing prostrate to decumbent in loamy soil on a shaded N-facing slope in an oak grassland community.
Dominant: Pholistoma auritum, Quercus agrifolia, and Hordeum murinum. Other: Marrubium vulgare, and Stellaria media.
Native. Frequent annual herb, 50 cm. long with white flowers and round fruits with many short, hooked hairs. Stems have tiny, hooked prickles which give it a sticky quality.
