Plants of the Sierra Nevada. Mixed collection on sheet; Hrusa (2014) has confirmed determination for "1"; "2" was last determined (1995) by Alva Day as Gilia interior. Hrusa notes: “The plants identified as G. o. subsp. bizonata that are disjunct in the Kern River Canyon of Tulare Co. are somewhat divergent from typical subsp. bizonata; they differ in their fewer and smaller, or absent, cauline leaf lobes; in this they are similar to subsp. exilis. The basal rosette tends to have fewer leaves as well. These are minor differences to me and I have annotated the specimens as subsp. bizonata, but include them separately in case someone might be interested.”.
