Collectors note: "Runs in key rather neatly to this subsp. Agrees with nothing in G. sinuata folder (but more like those segregated in newspaper as having earlier been labeled inconspicua. The specimens of G. sinuata (and inconspicua) were labed as G. sinuata by A. Grant in 1949, but much change has occurred since. This austrooccidentalis subsp. is described as uncommon, & records are from [Upper] Cuyama Valley. Our 1963 coll. is from Lockwood Valley.". Mixed collection on sheet; Hrusa (2014) has confirmed determination for "A" and "B"; "B" was last determined (5/9/1975) by Alva Day as Gilia latiflora subsp. cuyamensis.
