Sunny, xeric, ± SSE exposure; steep slope dominated by annuals and suffrutescent perennial with scattered patches of chaparral and a few scattered individuals of Pinus sabiniana. On S slopes on decomposed granite.
Suffrutescent mounding perennial scattered locally; woody old growth to ca 25 cm tall, 2 cm diameter; herbage gray-green; corollas fragrant, bluish purple with darker veins, 12-14 mm long; center of banner yellow aging violet; abaxial distal half of banner distinctly pubescent; keel ciliate on upper margin from middle to tip, and also on lower margin near claw.
