In foothill woodlands section at foot of hill below old garden office, bottom of canyon. Densely planted area with many trees.
18-20 m tree with straight erect trunk. Bark pale and smooth. Only one tree like this. Cultivated in UCR Botanical Garden, Acc. # 67-513, grown from seeds coll. from a J. hindsii tree by R.C. Dixon in N Calif. in either Lake or San Joaquin Co. Vouchers from original hindsii in UCR Herbarium, but data in bot. garden became confused: seeds from the two collections mixed.
