Dissected old erosional surface with relatively gentle relief, compared with steep-sided ridges to the west. In shallow drainage with narrow band of Quercus agrifolia, surrounding slopes with chaparral of Adenostoma sparsifolium, A. fasciculatum, Ceanothus greggii var. perplexans, and Arctostaphylos glauca on thin soils over granitic bedrock. Associates on sandy benches include Juncus bufonius, J. macrophyllus, Ambrosia psilostachya, Cordylanthus rigidus, Horkelia bolanderi ssp. clevelandii, Muhlenbergia rigens, Salix lasiolepis, Arabis glabra, Lotus unifoliolatus, Solidago californica, Hypericum perforatum, Thalictrum, and Clarkia. On sandy benches along stream, and away from stream in areas with vernal seepage
