Middle part of the meadow probably quite mucky in better rain years, dominated by Carex and Eleocharis. In saturated soil of wide, mossy border area dominated by Allium validum, Bistorta bistortoides and Veratrum californicum, with Pectiantia pentandra and a tall pale lavender-rayed Aster sp. Abundant around meadow edges; in full flower.
