Generally northwest sloping tailings--cobbles, gravels and sand; scattered 15-25 m tall Ponderosa pine, occasional Douglas-fir; wet places with willows and cottonwood sometimes dense. Some dry open ground almost bare, some thick with Acmispon americanus.Each lupine plant with several erect stems from buried caudex;flowers blue with white low banner spot, keel whitish; abundant even though presence of water is not always obvious.
