Rocky creek, that was scoured free of vegetation, most likely in the heavy rains of 2005. Sapling and seedlings of riparian trees, Salix spp. and Alnus rhombifolia were coming back. Beautiful formations of sedimentary rock, especially in the head of the canyon, where the bands of bedding were waves of twisted and contorted color. Looks to carry a perennial stream. But was a small one this year. This being a drought year. Mostly open canyon with dry, sunny areas, which had plants of: Heterotheca sessiliflora fastigiata, Eriodictyon crassifolium nigrescens, Brickellia nevinii, Leymus condensatus, Nicotiana glauca, Lotus scoparius, Eriophyllum confertiflorum, and Phacelia ramosissima latifolia. With some plant members that like it closer to the water being: Mimulus guttatus, M. cardinalis, Juncus rugulosus, Stachys bullata, Datisca glomerata, Polypogon viridis, and Epilobium ciliatum.
