Serpentine, rocky, south-facing slopes; scattered gray pine, occasional Ponderosa pine & incense cedar; thick with shrubs/chaparral: Quercus durata, Arctostaphylos viscida, Ceanothus cuneatus, Polygala cornuta, etc. An under-shrub 1-2 dm tall; flowers purple.
