Steep east-facing slope; a small pocket of serpentine slope with fine-crumbled mudstone on either side (more substantial serpentine a ways upslope). Woodland/grassland/chaparral matrix: foothill pine, toyon, buckeye, manzanita, blue oak, buckbrush, mountain mahogany. Plants uncommon, only on the steep gravelly serpentine slope; calyces purple; upper side of leaf yellow-green, the lower side glaucous green.
