South-facing serpentine opening dominated by Arctostaphylos viscida with scattered Ponderosa pine, the area surrounded by mixed conifer forest with lots of tanoak. This a known Packera layneae site, with Polygala cornuta, Cordylanthus tenuis, Brodiaea sierrae, etc. Plants common understory species, flowers violet.
