Dry, rocky slopes along canyon mouth. Joshua tree woodland with Yucca brevifolia jaegeriana, Juniperus osteosperma, Bouteloua eriopoda, Muhlenbergia porteri, Erioneuron pulchellum, etc. Much-branched shrub ca. 1 m tall and wide.
