In alkaline/saline dried clay soil of weak "alkali scalds" habitat along a cowpath, with Frankenia salina, A. depressa, A. fruticulosa and Hemizonia parryi. Very uncommon; found in only two small flat sparsely grassy areas. One small plt and two infl branches from avg plt, ca 10-12 in tall. Fruit bracts entire, fused below middle, and ribbed. All stem lvs absent from all plts seen. Previous two months (May, June) were extremely hot.
