Habitat:
Very steep northwest-facing exposed shale slope in gray pine/blue oak woodland. With scattered Keckiella corymbosa, Phacelia imbricata, Eschsolizia caespitosa, Malacothrix floccifera. Upper 2 filaments fused, elongate, purple; lower filaments short, separate; upper petals pale yellow, lower petals purple edged with pale yellow; fruits curved-arching downward, pedicels at 70-80 degrees from vertical; leaves only ±2-ranked.
