Coarse rocky alluvium of cobbles, gravel and sand; wash scrub with Senegalia, Hyptis emoryi, Parkinsonia florida, Encelia farinosa, Lycium andersonii, Peucephyllum, Ambrosia salsola, A. dumosa, etc.
Flowering
Scarce 2 m tall, erect, leafless shrubs at foot of canyon wall, edge of wash. Stems wand-like. Fls. pale greenish white, with hoods 1st white but later turning yellow-green.
