Old alluvial surface and old stream-cut slope; whitish decomposed granite soil, sandy loam; low scrub with Ericameria linearifolia (domin.), E. nauseosa (scarce) and Lupinus excubitus (common) and annuals.
Flowering
Common perennial on hilltop; fls. purple with yellow banner spot. Low and compact foliage, with infl. to c. 2 ft. tall.
