Oak woodland, with Q. chrysolepis mostly, in narrow canyon bordered by chaparral. Woodland of Q. douglasii on deeper soils at crest of hills.
Flowering
Locally common perennial (100s of plants) in open areas (full sun) in oak woodland at head of canyon. On clay-loam soil. Fls. white; visited by many tumbling flower beetles (Mordellidae), most infls. with 3-5 beetles.
