Openings in a mix or maritime scrub (Burton Mesa Chaparral) and grassland, with Quercus agrifolia, Adenostoma fasciculatum, Plantago erecta, Mucronea californica, Eriophyllum multicaule, Layia glandulosa, etc. On ancient stabilized sand dunes/sandstone base with scattered, active aeolian deposited sand dunes.
Flowering
Scarce perennial; flowers yellow with a hint of orange. Plants to 1.2 m tall; growing through brush.
