Large area, evidently heavily grazed for many years. Mostly weedy and annual grassland; some patches of remnant Salvia leucophylla-dominated coastal sage scrub, and some heavy clay soil patches with Stipa lepida and/or S. cernua at high cover.
Flowering
Perennial c. 1 m tall; flowers maroon. Solitary in weedy grassland.
