North-facing slope and washes, decomposed granite soil with boulder outcrops; coastal sage scrub with chaparral elements, assoc. with Artemisia cal., Eriogonum fasc. ssp. fol., Eriodictyon crass., Lotus scop., Sambucus mex., etc.
Flowering & Fruiting
Fairly common annual in roadside gullies and along washes; fls. yellow. Plants to 7.5 ft. (2.3 m) tall with main stems to 1 inch thick at base. Foliage fragrant.
