Wet ground of spring on gentle SSW-facing slope above fire road, in partial sun and mostly shade, beneath Jeffrey pine, incense cedar, and bigcone spruce; assoc. with Calocedrus decurrens, Carex hassei, Carex cf. occidentalis, Eleocharis cf. montevidensis, Equisetum hyemale affine, Helenium bigelovii, Juncus cf. balticus, Metha cf. arvensis, Osmorhiza chilensis, Pinus jeffreyi, Platanthera cf. sparsiflora, Pseudotsuga macrocarpa, Quercus chrysolepis.

Frequent perennial up to c. 2.5 ft. tall; common scouring rush
