Habitat:
Canyon in steep hills of poorly consolidated silty sediments; burned (ca. 1999) chaparral with coastal sage patches. Yucca schidigera & Opuntia locally common. Very dry year (± driest since 1882) & few annuals present, except a thin cover of mostly failing weedy grasses, shrubs mostly stressed.

Uncommon perennial on steep S-facing slope; fls. white.
