Margin of chaparral, shrubland, in creek wash with boulders of metamorphic, granitic gneiss, schist substrate, well-drained sand, gravel. Assoc. with Eriogonum fasciculatum, Platanus racemosa, Ceanothus, Phacelia, Lupinus, Eriodictyum trichocalyx, etc.
Flowering & Fruiting
Flowers pale pink-purple, keel with orange tip, white towards base; stems harshly bristly; occasional scattered erect herb; among driftwood in open sand of wash.
