Rocky granitic slopes, loam and decomposed granite soil; coastal sage scrub/chaparral with Eriogonum fasc. fol., Salvia mellif., Adenostoma, Ceanothus, Artemisia calif., Rhus laurina, etc.
Flowering
Abundant 1 m tall shrub on dry slopes; fls. white, just beginning to open. E.f. ssp. polifolium was well into flower.
