Hilly area, most of hill removed by former mine, quarry floor occupied for several decades by industrial buildings & pavement. Remnant coastal sage scrub patch persists along with waste areas, untended landscaping at top of quarry face and some brushy thickets. Many weeds and escaped ornamentals present. Artemisia californica, Rhus ovata, Ricinus communis, Baccharis salicifolia, B. pilularis, Prunus ilicifolia lyonii, Eucalyptus citriodora, and Acacia spp. were all at least locally common.
Flowering & Fruiting
Fairly common tree, 1-10 m tall, in disturbed sites, abandoned planted areas & a small “riparian” zone. Some probably planted but many spontaneous -- seedlings, saplings & adults present. Fls. white.
