Floodplain characterized by areas of barren alkaline pool beds and drier low hummocks with dark cryptogamic crusts over semialkaline sandy loam soil. Open scrub of Atriplex spp., especially A. polycarpa, Suaeda sp., with numerous annuals, including Lepidium dictyotum, Lasthenia californica, Pectocarya penicillata, Erodium cicutarium, Bromus rubens, Hordeum leporinum, Phacelia fremontii & Schismus barbatus.
