South-facing slope; coarse granitic soil. Mixed evergreen forest dominated by Pinus jeffreyi, P. coulteri, Quercus chrysolepis, and Q. kelloggii. Road follows a recently graded fuelbreak.
Fruiting
Shrub, c. 1 1/2 m tall. Burl present. Common in scattered patches, mostly among granite boulders and steeper slopes. A. pringlei in the more common manzanita on the site.
