Rocky hills of basalt and clay. Chaparral on rocky slopes. Fairly common 1-1.5 m shrub in chaparral. Foliage green. Plants with well-developed basal burl. Plants of this species were removed by grading; perhaps 1/2 of those on site have been removed to date.
